Describe your app, watch it get built.
Type what you want. Kiln generates a React + Vite app, streams the files, and shows a live preview — no setup, no boilerplate.
How it works
Three steps to a running app
No environment to configure, nothing to install. Describe, watch, export.
Describe
Write a prompt — "a habit tracker with a weekly grid." Pick a model; see the token estimate before you run.
Before you send
~ 140 tokens est.Watch it build
The stepper runs Thinking → Reading → Writing → Preview. Files stream in and the live preview refreshes automatically.
Generation
Files written 7
Export
Iterate through chat, restore any checkpoint, then export the source as a ZIP or copy the files straight to your clipboard.
After the run
Transparent by design
You always know what an action costs
See the estimate before you run, the exact spend after, and an automatic refund if a build fails. No surprises, no subscription.
Balance is what you spend
Balance, in mono numerals. Every generation spends tokens and the count goes down. Top up any time — you always see the estimate before a run and the exact spend after.
Tier is what you unlock
Tier, a permanent badge — never a number. Set by your biggest purchase, it unlocks model classes, projects, image generation, and export options. Buying more tokens can raise it, never lower it.
Prepaid vs subscription
A pack asks less of you than a plan
Most tools in this category bill monthly. That's a reasonable model — it's just not the one that suits building something occasionally, in bursts, on your own schedule.
| Prepaid vs subscription | Typical subscription | Kiln |
|---|---|---|
| A month where you build nothing | Subscription — Still billed | Kiln — Costs nothing |
| Allowance you didn't use | Subscription — Often resets at the end of the period | Kiln — Never expires |
| Adding a second person | Subscription — Usually another seat, billed monthly | Kiln — No seats exist |
| When you stop paying | Subscription — Access typically ends | Kiln — You keep the tokens and the tier |
| Cost of trying it properly once | Subscription — At least one month's fee | Kiln — One pack, no recurring charge |
| What a failed run costs | Subscription — Varies — often the credits are gone | Kiln — Refunded automatically |
We don't name specific competitors here. Their pricing changes without notice, and a comparison table that quietly goes out of date is exactly the kind of thing this page exists to argue against. The left column describes patterns common to subscription pricing, not any one product.
The workspace
One screen, built around the run
Everything is arranged around a single loop: describe, generate, look at what came out, change it.
Live preview
A sandboxed iframe re-renders on every change. Check the real app at desktop, tablet and phone widths without leaving the page — the generated code never runs on our servers.
What you leave with
It's a React project, and it's yours
No proprietary runtime, no hosting you're tied to, no format that only opens here. What comes out is what a developer would have written.
Standard React + Vite + Tailwind
A stack any front-end developer can pick up without a handover call.
Host it anywhere
Drop the folder into any repository and deploy it wherever you already deploy.
Nothing runs on our servers
Generated code is previewed in a sandbox in your browser. We never execute it.

The awkward questions
The ones worth asking of any tool that charges by consumption.
Do my tokens expire?
No. There's no expiry date, no monthly reset and no dormancy rule. A pack bought today is still spendable years from now. This is a property of the ledger, not a promise in a help article — balances only ever fall when you start a run.
What happens if a build fails?
The tokens come back automatically. No ticket, no waiting — a failed run settles to a charge of zero.
Can I lose my tier by spending down my balance?
No. Balance and tier are separate. Your balance is what you spend; your tier is set by the largest pack you've ever bought, and it never falls. Buying more can raise it. Nothing lowers it.
How can you tell me what a message costs if models vary?
Because we convert the provider's real usage into platform tokens at one fixed, published rate. You see the estimate before you send and the exact spend after — and if the run fails, you're refunded in full.
Do I own what it generates?
Yes. It's a standard React + Vite + Tailwind project, yours to use commercially, modify and host anywhere. The entry tiers add a small "Made with" watermark; every tier above that removes it.
Is there a free plan?
No, and there isn't going to be one. A free tier has to be paid for by someone — usually the paying customers, through higher prices or a monthly commitment. We'd rather sell you a pack of tokens that never expires and let the product argue for itself.
Start with one pack. Spend it whenever.
No subscription, no seats, no expiry. See the cost of every message before you send it, and get the tokens back if a build fails.
